Bayram Gumus
Biography
He was born in 1960 in Konya. He immigrated to Istanbul with his family in 1967. He dropped out of high school in 1977. He worked in various jobs until he went to do his military service in Cyprus.
During his military service, which he started in 1980, he painted to make use of his spare time, as a souvenir for his friends. After completing his military service, he continued to work and paint in various daily jobs. With the encouragement of Kasım Koçak, who saw his paintings in 1983, he accelerated his painting work.
He worked in Kasım Koçak and İbrahim Çiftçioğlu workshops for a while. Later, he opened his own workshop in 1984 and started to earn his living with painting. He opened his first personal exhibition in Ankara in 1985. Bayram Gümüş, who is among the typical representatives of Safyürek (naive) painting, sincerely interprets the joy of life and happiness peculiar to this style of painters, in a unique sense of color.
